In general this is to breakdown a very easy analogy.
In the character layout you have this section towards the bottom.
»Huza! I’m super strong!«{Current Attack Power: 15 }
»Sticks and Stones….Sticks and Stones«{Current Defense Power: 10 }
»Focus Pocus and you’ll Focus«{Current Magic Power: 15 }
»I’m rubber your glue, whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks on to you!«{ Current Magic Defense: 10 }
You've got 15 in attack 10 in defense 15 in magic power and 10 in magic defense. That's a total of 50 points.
That mix is a balanced character. Strong but tanky and intelligent. However you have to take into account different characters may specialize in different powers. In example. [ A mage would NOT need attack power] A Mage would prefer to dump attack power into either defense or magic power simply because they do not rely on brute strength to beat their opponent.
Now here's some thought's that might come into your head.
--1]] They might just use all 50 points in one.
-- Answer -- Yes while this is true you have to think about it from an allocation point of view. If they dump ALL 50 into 1 section they have 0 in the other 3.
---Example Attack power 0 : Defense 10 Magic power 30 : Magic defense 10. A typical magic user build. You might think they have too much damage and moderate defense so it's unfair. You have to take into account they have 10 defense. A Melee fighter, who, would be FASTER then a mage would be able to close the gap between them and physically attack the mage. Now lets build a factitious melee fighter shall we?
---- Melee fighter - Attack power 30 : defense 15 : Magic power 0 : Magic defense 5]] Once again a typical build for a melee.
The melee fighters attack is at 30. The mages defense is at 10. Do the simple math 30-10 = 20 Which means unless other items or abilities stopped the attack that mage is going to get hurt badly.
To summarize everything. YES it can make a character VERY strong if you allow point allocation. But if you don't balance them out it's quite clear what the weakness is. It doesn't make one character more powerful then the other. It only defines the style in which they wish to do combat. Allocating the points would be no different then having those items for sale that reduce "cold" "Poison" etc etc.
If you have any questions about explaining it feel free to ask I don't mind breaking out an algorithm
